Issue 10 - Day 2

Ephesians 1

Ephesians 1:17-19
17)  That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:
18)  The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
19)  And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,

What do you pray for? Paul is praying for the Ephesians, that they may increase in the wisdom, and knowledge, that they may know God’s hope, inheritance and power. We should pray for one another in the same manner.

How often have you seen a brother in Christ and thought, “They really need to grow up. Can’t they see the problem in their lives!” The reality is that instead of judging them we should be praying for them. Equally, how often have you got angry at the actions and attitudes of others. Again the answer is to pray for them to grow in wisdom and knowledge. It really is not fair to complain about someones lack of wisdom if you are not prepared to do something about it. Also, it changes how you feel about that person. When you are praying for someone it is very hard to hate them.

Do you know the exceeding greatness of God in your life? Do you know his power? If not, it is time to get on your knees and pray for yourself also. Ask God to open your eyes that you may see him more clearly. Ask him to give you the spirit of wisdom and knowledge of him. No believer is any more ignorant. The disciples were examples of this, though lacking in education God gave them wisdom and knowledge that astounded those around them. They said, these men have been with Jesus. Is that what people say of you?
