Issue 15 - Day 3

2 Thessalonians 3

2 Thessalonians 3:1-3
1)  Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you:
2)  And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith.
3)  But the Lord is faithful, who shall stablish you, and keep you from evil.

When you think of Paul you probably imagine this great evangelist, boldly taking the word of God throughout the known world. Surely he had no problem sharing the gospel. He wrote a large part of the New Testament so he will never have been struggling to find the words to say. Well, he was well trained in the Jewish tradition, and therefore could probably recite the entire Torah, or Old Testament as we now know it, however he was a man like us. Given to the same worries and struggles.

His request for prayer tells us more than what he needed, but also the needs of every believer today. When you pray for your brothers in Christ, ask God to give them the words to say, to bring the word of God to remembrance as they speak. Pray that nothing will stop that word being spoken, not fear, nor the attack of the devil. Pray that those listening would have open hearts to receive, and that as people see your brothers in Christ, God’s name would be glorified. That their lives would be an amazing witness!

Pray for their protection, and strength when working with unbelievers. In all this, never doubt that God will answer prayer, for God is faithful. We are called by faith, yet God is more faithful. How will we know that God will do these things in our brothers in Christ? By the fact that he will also do it in us. He will establish us all in his word, and protect us from all evil, even as it says in the “Lord’s prayer”. His is the power and the glory, amen.
