Studying your bible - Part 2

Studying your bible - Part 2

Context is everything

“I don’t read the Old Testament because I don’t understand it” – Many believers today

2 Timothy 2:15
Psalm 14 clearly states “_____THERE IS NO GOD______ “
The context is important, as this is not what it means. Read the whole verse in context to understand the truth.

The big picture – Dispensations (Ephesians 3:2)
This is one way to chop up the Bible.  You can also do it by Covenants or many other divisions, for example the New Testament can be divided into the early church and letters to the Jews, then the gentile church and the Pauline letters.
James 1:1 was written to the _______JEWS_________ .
Ephesians 2:11 – 15 - God never changes but how he deals with us does.
  • The dispensation of _____INNOCENCE_________________________ (Genesis 1:1 – 3:5)
  • The dispensation of _____CONSCIENCE________________________ (Genesis 3:6 – 8)
  • The dispensation of _____HUMAN GOVERNMENT________________ (Genesis 9 – 11)
  • The dispensation of _____THE PATRIARCHS_____________________ (Genesis 12 – 50)
  • The dispensation of _____THE LAW________________ (Exodus – End of the Gospels)
  • The dispensation of _____GRACE__________________ (End of the Gospels – Revelation 19)
  • The dispensation of _____THE MILLENNIUM_____________________ (Revelation 20 – 22)

AEM Prayer Update September 2012

September 2012

First of all we thank God for safe, healthy and successful camps and summer activities. Pray that seeds of truth planted over this season will flourish in the months ahead. Pray too that the planned follow-up activities will lead to lasting and fruitful relationships.

Pray too for:

Albania
  • For Steve Neal, now settling in Gjirokastër having attended his last camp as a summer volunteer and begun life as a full-time missionary worker.
  • For the 150 or so campers and staff who had such a blessed time in Ersekë last month. All the campers were blind and many of them are not yet believers. The feedback from all concerned prompts us to thank God for the way in which he is working amongst this group of people.
  • For the young people we have now known and worked with for 5 years or more who will go away to university this year. Pray especially for those who have professed faith and will now be put to something of a test; that they will find fellowship and be encouraged in Tirana and elsewhere.
  • For the resumption of regular services in Ballsh after a summer break.
  • For the work of the Albanian Bible Institute as new courses begin and others resume. Remember particularly that those who commit themselves to study through ABI usually have full-time jobs and fit their studies into evenings and days off. Pray for the board meeting later this month.
  • For Agim who is seriously ill. Agim comes from Delvinë and recently came to faith in his 87th year. A lifelong communist and militant atheist I had the privilege of talking with him as he mustered all his strength to proclaim his new found hope in the Lord Jesus Christ. Pray too for his wife Dudo as she cares for him and for Reni Barjami as he supports them both.
Kosova
  • For the town of Kamenicë and the determined efforts being made to begin a church there. Pray for Hilki and family as they move and begin work there later in the year.
  • For the ongoing work of Tenda Publishing in Prishtina and for a strong and mutually helpful relationship with AEM’s literature ministry in Albania.

Macedonia
  • For Niko and Monda Treska who continue their faithful and sometimes discouraging ministry through regular visits to Skopje. Pray particularly that they will be free of family and health worries.
