2 Corinthians 11
2 Corinthians 11:13-14
- For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ.
- And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
Do you enjoy sin? If you just thought, or said, 'no' to that question then you are deluded. Of course you enjoy sin! If it were not attractive no-one would do it. At the extremes, people take drugs, sleep around, steal and so on, because it is attractive. These things give you immediate satisfaction. They make you feel good, at least until the following day.
When you think of Satan you probably picture a fiery chap red horns, pointy tail, and a trident. Films have a lot to answer for. The bible describes him as the angel of light. His body was a fantastic musical instrument, in fact the reason he was cast from heaven is that while leading the worship of Heaven, standing over the throne of God himself, Satan took the worship to himself. The singer, greater than the one he was singing of. A third of the angels really were worshiping him, and still do as they went with him. If they were so attracted to Satan, is it a surprise that we find sin attractive? Is it a surprise that there are also false prophets claiming to bring a message from God when they are Satan's ministers? Just this morning I received an Email claiming to be new revelation from God, which the Bible is clear, will not happen.
Be on guard, for the devil is attractive. Be alert, seeing clearly all who claim to be of God, but are not. Test their words against the bible. Stand guard also against thoughts and deeds, which attractive as they are, are not of God and lead only into sin. Christ kept things simple for us. We must simply stick to the gospel we know to be true, and if anyone brings a message that disagrees with the bible, know that they are not bringing a message from God.
