Issue 4 - Day 2

1 Corinthians 9

1 Corinthians 9:24-25

  1. Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.
  2. And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.

What is your walk with God like? Are you running the race, or taking a leisurely stroll though life? Are you striving to win, or taking it easy? Do you expect to receive a crown at the end of the race, or a whoopee cushion?

Summer 2012 sees the Olympic Games coming to London. Thousands of Athletes all over the World having been training for the last four years, and more, with one goal in mind. They desire to come to London and take away the gold medal in their event. None of them is coming with the plan to come in last place. Even silver medal is not a target, only the gold. Only one will be victorious, only one will win the prize.

In our lives as believers our race is not against other believers, but is more akin to a time trial. We have a limited time on this earth and God wants us to use it to his glory. The aim, as with Paul, is to do our utmost that no-one should end up in hell because we did not try hard enough.

We have one goal set before us, to take the gospel to the World, then baptise and teach those who receive that word. The question is, are you prepared to give it 100%. Press on and claim the prize.
