Issue 7 - Day 7

Romans 6

Romans 6:5-6

  1. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:
  2. Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

Are you a servant of sin? Have you crucified your old nature? How you live your life should reflect your spiritual state. If it does not then you must question your spiritual state. If you cannot tell yourself from an unbeliever by your actions then your heart is also no different, and you have grown cold toward God. We are saved unto eternal life, and that life starts now.

A few years ago I tried to re-seed our lawn. I have since given up and will resort to paving it over. If it had worked the seed would have gone into the soil, buried, to all appearance dead. Then new life would have sprung up in the form of grass. What actually happened was it rained and all the seed ended up on top of the soil. It was not buried and so did not sprout and grow but actually died, except for that which the birds eat.

Our lives are often the same. We do not let the let the seed of the word of God penetrate our lives. Though we are saved, if we fail to let the word of God make a difference to our lives then we are as dead as my garden.

Put behind you any parts of your life that do not measure up to God's standards and life for him. You have been freed from sin so stop making the same old mess every day. Pray that God will put in you a new heart that beats in time with his.
