Issue 8 - Day 4

Romans 10

Romans 10:13-15

  1. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
  2. How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?
  3. And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

This passage opens with the classics words, "My heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved." Are there people of whom you can say that? If not, then there should be. We all know people who do not know Christ, but is it your heart’s desire that they may be saved?

The problem we face all the time is that our friends not knowing Christ, also are not calling out to him. Why should they when they do not know him! The primary way in which they will hear the gospel is through your witness. We have this picture that preaching means standing at the front of a church on a Sunday morning and speaking for half an hour or so. This is one form of preaching, but another form is just witness. To preach, means to tell people about God, and about the salvation offered through his son Jesus Christ. It is true that not everyone is equipped to share the gospel, however that is one of the reasons we have churches, to equip you for the task God has set before you. This is why our mission as a church is to share, shape and send.

Are you sharing the gospel? If not, ask yourself why not and start sharing the gospel. Are you shaping others and being shaped into the shape that God wants for your life? If not then get plugged into his word and the local church. And finally, are you sending or being sent? Get out there and do it!
