Issue 9 - Day 4

Colossians 1

Colossians 1:9-10
9)  For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;
10)  That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;

What do you pray for your brothers in Christ? What do you seek to attain in your Christian walk? There are three key areas here. Walk worthy of the Lord, be fruitful, and increase in knowledge of God. And all three have the same answer. If you are to do these things then you must spend time reading the word of God.

All to often walking with God feels like walking on a tightrope carrying a heavy bag and hoping not to fall off. We are struggling along on our hands and knees trying to hang on, but that is not what God intended. This is survival not walking. In order to be fruitful and walk in a manner pleasing to God we need to let go and stand up. Focus on the end of the rope, which is our goal, the throne of Heaven. This is the only way we can grow to know him better, and even more so, the only way we can walk properly. Then we can run, skip or turn cartwheels on that rope, just like Olympic gymnasts. To those gymnasts it may as well be a motorway, not because it is, but because their focus and confidence is is on their knowledge, not on the rope. The result is that they abound unto every good work.

As you go about your business today think on what God wants for you. How can you practically grow in knowledge of him, then do it. Knowing him better you will walk worthy of him, and become fruitful. There is no limit to what God can do with you when you stop looking down and start looking to him.
